Anti-Ragging Policy

MBNS Institutes, Jamshedpur, maintains a **Zero Tolerance Policy** towards ragging. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the campus, hostels, or any other premises of the institute. Any student found guilty of ragging will face severe disciplinary action as per the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court of India and relevant regulatory bodies (NCTE, INC, PCI, AICTE).

1. What Constitutes Ragging?

According to the regulations, ragging includes any act by a senior student that:

  • Causes physical or psychological harm or raises apprehension or fear in a fresher or any other student.
  • Involves asking a student to do any act which causes shame, embarrassment, or humiliation.
  • Using criminal force, assault, or intimidation.
  • Restraining a student or causing hurt, or grievous hurt.
  • The use of words, nicknames, or gestures that are derogatory or insulting.

2. Prohibition of Ragging

  • Ragging within the institute campus and hostels is strictly prohibited.
  • Ragging outside the institute campus is also strictly prohibited.
  • No person shall practice, abet, or propagate ragging.

3. Punitive Measures

Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offense as established by the Anti-Ragging Committee of the Institute, those found guilty shall be awarded one or more of the following punishments:

  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  • Withholding/withdrawing scholarship and other benefits.
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation processes.
  • Withholding results.
  • Debarring from representing the institute in any regional, national, or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
  • Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
  • Cancellation of admission.
  • Rustication from the institute for a period ranging from one to four semesters.
  • Expulsion from the institute and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period.
  • Filing of a First Information Report (FIR) with the local police station.

4. Anti-Ragging Committee

The Institute has a dedicated Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad to ensure a ragging-free environment. Regular monitoring is conducted in vulnerable areas within the campus and hostels.

5. Reporting an Incident

If any student is a victim of ragging or witnesses any such incident, they must immediately report it to any member of the Anti-Ragging Committee, their HOD, or through the contact details provided below. The identity of the reporter will be kept strictly confidential.
